My Teams

Badlands Brawl:

Orcs

Orc Team
The 'Arannidur Git Grushaz (aka. Gysenmountain Greenskins) are the second team I ever coached. When I joined the RanDALe League, I needed a new team. As a lifelong Orc player, I naturally had some Orcs lying around. Since I never played Blood Bowl until 2021, two of those Orcs had been sadly converted to Warhammer 40,000 troops, so I had to re-convert them. You may notice that there is no Troll on the team. I strongly dislike the Troll and don't use him. Instead, I try to keep the team value low so I can field Bomber Dribblesnot or Fungus the Loon instead.

I painted them quickly and simply. For example, the checkerboard pattern is drawn on with a Sharpie. I got them to a playable state and now plan to slowly repaint them in a better and more time-consuming way. The second team logo is for another league in which I field them.

Elven Kingdom League:

Dark Elves

Dark Elf Team
The Haranni Heartrippers are my very first team. I got some 2nd edition Dark Elves from eBay for a reasonable price as a starting point. Then I had to come up with some ideas for the positionals that didn't exist back then. I converted the Runner from a Kicker by bending the kicking foot a little and filling the gap with Green Stuff. The Witch Elves I simply bought on eBay. They came painted, and I haven't bothered to strip and repaint them yet. The plan is to cut the weapons, and that's it. The Assassins were quite expensive old-school Warhammer Fantasy Dark Elves. The one with the eye patch is original, while for the other one, I cut the sword in the right hand down to a dagger.

Painting was very hard. The pink is an effect color called Neon Pink by Kreul. It's clumpy and not very opaque, but it gives a nice glowing pink if done right. Unfortunately, because it is such a pain to paint, it's one reason I haven't got much done. The other reason is that I lost nearly every game with Dark Elves so far, and at one point, I had enough and played another race.

Favored of Chaos:

Nurgle (Garbage Pail Kids)

Nurgle Team
Another side project of mine in a Nurgle Team called Garbage Pail Blitz involves figures from the Garbage Pail Kids, not from the 90s but from the 80s.

The original figures are made out of soft and flexible rubber. To paint them, I had to recast them in hard resin, which requires a lot of work—really a lot. For example, the cast product is of such poor quality that I have to do a lot of modeling work as well. Because of all this, the team will not be finished for quite some time, but I am working on it!

Halfling Thimble Cup:

Gnomes (Kinder Surprise)

Kinder Surprise Gnome Team
After the new Gnome team was released by Games Workshop, I thought about making a team. However, I didn't have the time to paint one, so I got the idea of using Kinder Surprise figures. They come pre-painted, and I knew that a wide variety of garden gnomes were released in the 90s and 2000s. So, I went to eBay and bought about 200 Kinder Surprise figures for around €20. I built the team you can see below, and I also built a second one as a gift. I guess I have enough figures for two more teams lying around. The Team name is Sagenwald Eskamotage.

Halflings (Hamtaro the Hamster)

Hamtaro Hamster Halfling Team
This team called Ham Ham Heartbreak was a side project that I worked on for many months. These are toy figures from the Japanese cartoon series "Hamtaro." I think those hamsters are incredibly cute, so I bought a bunch of them years ago for almost nothing. The only challenge was finding Treemen. After quite a bit of searching, I found two Cutimals Tree-Starplayers by Greebo. It's not a perfect fit, but they go together reasonably well. The only figures I had to paint were the trees. I used Army Painter Speedpaints and Citadel Contrast paints and finished them very quickly.

Sylvanian Spotlight:

Shambling Undead

Shambling Undead
The Haranni Horror Hecatees are my third team and the one I've played with the most. I built them straight out of the box and painted them using speed painting techniques. Because of this, I finished them reasonably fast. Completing projects is always a challenge for me, so this makes me quite happy. Considering that most of the time I just applied one coat of Army Painter Speedpaint or Citadel Contrast Paint, I think the result is quite nice.

I played this team in every tournament I participated in and will continue to do so in the future. Shambling Undead is just good enough in everything, and I really like how they play. Also, I don't have many other finished teams yet.

Tomb Kings (Monster in my Pocket)

Halfling Team
This is the current team I am working on, named Everliving Guardians of the three Poleis. It is made out of toy figures called "Monster in My Pocket" (or MimP) from the 90s. I collected them as a kid and still like the sculpts a lot. They are mostly classic monsters like Dracula or a Werewolf, so it’s only possible to make an undead team out of those figures: Shambling Undead, Vampires, Necromantic Horror, or Tomb Kings. I decided to make a Tomb Kings team, partly because they don't have many positionals, and also because there are a few Egyptian-themed monsters in the range. The team is far from done, but I have played a few games with it, mostly resulting in draws, unfortunately.

FUMBBL Secret League:

Skaven Clan Pestilens

Skaven Clan Pestilens Team
These are the Gysenmountain Gloomfires – a Skaven team from Clan Pestilens, built using the rules of the FUMBBL Secret League. I made them for a Gutter Bowl tournament, so there are only seven players (it’s somewhat like Sevens).

The coolest thing about this team is that they have two Censer Bearers who function like Ball & Chain but don’t have the "Secret Weapon" rule. The lore reason? They shroud the pitch in a toxic green mist, making it impossible for the referee to see them.
